In each video of this series, first you listen to a story or dialogue at normal speed to get the main idea. Second, listen to the same material but at a much lower speed, and at the same time complete each sentence by filling in the blank with the words or phrases you hear. Lastly, answer a few questions about the story or dialogue.

Today’s story is about a man whose name is 查理(Chálǐ), 查理(Chálǐ) is the Chinese translation of Charlie. Below is the script and the translation of the story.

查理是英国人，今年二十八岁，现在住在北京。他是上个月来中国的，在一家中国公司工作。查理每天都很忙，上午在公司开会，下午去见客户。他的汉语口语很好，见中国客户的时候他常常说汉语。可是查理不认识很多汉字，所以他每天晚上都学习汉字。

Chálǐ měi tiān dōu hěn máng, shàngwǔ zài gōngsī kāihuì, xiàwǔ qù jiàn kèhù. Tā de Hànyǔ kǒuyǔ hěn hǎo, jiàn Zhōngguó kèhù deshíhòu tā chángcháng shuō Hànyǔ. Kěshì Chálǐ bú rènshi hěn duō Hànzì, suǒyǐ tā měi tiān wǎnshàng dōu xuéxí Hànzì.

He came to China last month.
